# Power BI Overview

> What Entegrata delivers in Power BI, and how your firm benefits from Power BI on top of your lakehouse

## What is Power BI?

Power BI is Microsoft's business intelligence and data visualization platform. Entegrata serves data to Power BI in your firm's tenant, using the Gold layer of your lakehouse, and refreshes data into Power BI on a schedule of your firm's choosing. Entegrata's Starter Pack Power BI reports and semantic models are built on the Gold layer and can serve as an accelerant to your firm's journey into Power BI.

## Why Use Power BI on Your Lakehouse

* **A jumping-off point.** Entegrata's Starter Pack dashboards cover firm finances and performance, matter pricing, and presence. Once they are connected to Entegrata's Gold layer in your lakehouse, your firm can customize their measures and visuals to fit how it works.
* **One source for every report.** Every Entegrata report reads the same Gold layer, so figures agree from one report to the next.
* **Data in your firm's terms.** Data is already organized around topics like clients, matters, timekeepers, and invoices.
* **Current on your schedule.** Your firm sets when source data updates and when Power BI refreshes, and your Customer Experience Manager can help you update when the Gold layer builds. See [Data Freshness](/power-bi/data-freshness).
* **Room to grow.** Your team can build their own reports on the same data, or analyze it in Excel, without starting from scratch.

## How It Works
